These are totally on my horizon for February. I can see it now...

L-O-V-E
I've always loved this cover more than any other New Yorker cover. I'm not sure if it's because it is mainly pink and red-my two favorite colors, or if it's because it's all about love....Either way, it's a favorite image of mine.

I love bad pop culture, consequently I love the Jersey Shore. MTV realizes the addictiveness of this and so now you to can be immortalized Jersey Shore style. This is me!

Love Affair
In preparation for the party at the Cicada Club I am watching all of the best picture nominees for 1939. The first on my list was "Love Affair." This song made me teary eyed, so I thought I'd share it. If you haven't seen this movie, see it! Irene Dunne is beyond beautiful.

Going as Garbo
I'm incredibly excited to be attending the Academy Awards party for 1939 at the Cicada Club. Even more so now that I've decided who to go as, Miss Garbo herself. She was a nominee that year for "Ninotchka," so it's perfect. Now I just need to figure how I can make myself pass for the most intensely beautiful face of 1939.....yikes! But I love the idea of being Garbo for the night.
But Beautiful
Now I will never pass up a vintage thrift store pin again....the possibilities are endless! I want one of these in every room. And what a wonderful gift to give a friend or bride-to be! My birthday is April 19th in case you want to make me one....
Rainy Day Schedule
Nothing beats a lovely Sunday with your boyfriend and the dog. It's raining and we have nowhere to be and nothing else to do but enjoy ourselves.

Bartender....I will have another.
I really need to set up a home bar in my apartment. Then I will be able to master all of the cool drinks in vintage bartenders books. There's something very cool about a after work cocktail that isn't from this century.

Moscow Mule
A few weeks ago I went to the Cicada Club (a whole different post entirely), and it was amazing. The building was beyond gorgeous, and so were the people. But where I really fell in love was at the bar. Max, the belligerent bartender is a true artist! I read the menu a few times before I settled on one of the older cocktails on the menu, The Moscow Mule. Invented in the 1930's , The Moscow Mule was the drink that got people in Los Angeles drinking vodka. A perfect combinations of ginger, mint and lime it really aims to please. Max uses fresh ginger, but you don't have to. Try it and you will see what I mean, it's my new signature cocktail that's for sure!
The Moscow Mule:
(recipe courtesy of the famed Cock n Bull in Hollywood)
1 1/2 Ounces Vodka
8 Ounces Ginger Beer
Juice of 1/2 Lime
Pour Vodka into a chilled mug. Add ginger beer to fill mug. Add lime juice. Decorate mug with a slice of lime. *Max also used a sprig of mint and a small slice of fresh ginger, it was lovely so I wanted to put it out there. However this is the original recipe, so maybe see which you prefer.

Resolution Time....
Ok, so last year I made a few. And I'm happy to say I stuck to them for the most part, so why not try again? Here it goes:
1. Appreciate Art/Music- I used to be so much better about getting out and seeing new exhibits and bands, but lately I've been slacking. So I want to get back into this. Should be easy right?
2.Read more-I'm shooting for a book every two weeks, which is very possible for my schedule. I'm not going to be very specific about what I have to read, just as long as I read something. Film star biographies, American Classics,or Bukowski-it's all relevant and it all counts!
3.More Quality, Less Junk- This goes for everything..food, movies, clothes, how I spend my spare time...I'm hoping this becomes a life habit.

Happy New Year!
I sincerely hope yours was as good as mine! We spent the countdown to 2010 at Grauman's Chinese Theatre, hands pressed firmly in Marilyn's prints...hoping for a little transfer of magic Freaky Friday style....
