For anyone staying home tonight, may I recommend a few movies?Unlike most people, I really shy from the true scary movies on Halloween and instead go for the PG variety, it's more fun that way(I think). First, The Midnight Hour made in 1985, this movie is pure cheese. But in my house growing up it was a madatory Halloween movie. Kinda hard to find now, but easily downloadable in Isohunt. It's worth watching if only to see the cemetary blow up.Not to mention the killer soundtrack courtesy of Mr. Wolfman Jack himself. Also Hocus Pocus, the only movie I watch several times a season. The costumes a great, and the song and dance number with Bette Midler singing "I Put a Spell on You," it really gets you in the spirit. Aside from that, it lets you dream of being in Salem on Halloween. And the cameo from Gary and Penny Marshall is hilarious. So, while I hope everyone is going out tonight, these are my movie suggestions it you aren't.

The Postelles
For anyone who enjoys good fun Rock n Roll music, I suggest you check these guys out. Currently unsigned by a major label, they are already garnering a buzz. Their new album was produced by Albert Hammond Jr. As for tracks my favorite is "White Night," it's catchy and has just the right amount of everything. It's the type of song you put on to get the mood just right in a house party of hipster friends. On top of that, there is something very 50's about their sound, at least to me, I think it's the faster beat in the strumming, which gives it a nostalgic feel.I've been listening to them on Myspace for days, now I just need to go to Amoeba and hope they have the album. Because I really dislike itunes...but if you don't they are on there too. So check 'em out...and you can say you knew them when.....

Dolores Del Rio
In case you are stumped for a costume....
The American Apparel near Hollywood and Highland has a few superhero ideas for you. As long as you aren't shy with spandex! If you are, there's always this option too...
Personally, i've have been scouring the thrift stores for some sort of inspiration. I can never bring myself to actually buy a premade costume.

My Favorite Cheap Beauty Products
1. Nivea Extra Enriched Lotion-This one is a must for me, I freak out when I am running low. It moisturizes, but doesn't clog pores which is major. Also it absorbs quickly into skin and has a great subtle clean smell.
2.Strawberry Rosebud Salve- Great for lips, cuticles, frizzy hair-even bug bites. This salve is the type of product that you buy in bulk and keep in all of your bags. The fact that is smells pretty is just icing on the cake.
3.Revlon Just Bitten Lip Stain- I like this stain because it is a realistic berry color that lasts. My one beef with it is that is is hard to find, and it's plastic lid. Somehow I always manage to drop it shattering the lid and making it impossible to carry around for fear of leakage. Otherwise it is great, and so so pretty.
4. L'oreal Lineur Intense- The felt tip on this eyeliner makes cat eyes a breeze. I wear a lot of eyeliner, but this is the best.
*Sorry about the picture placement, it wasn't working out too well for me...

Making Tracks
Debbie Harry is the coolest woman alive. In life I strive to be one tenth as cool as she is. My favorite book on Blondie is called Making Tracks, it's out of print, but you can find it on Amazon.com-for a price. The book is written by Debbie and her then boyfriend and Blondie member , Chris Stein. It details the start and success of the band and is filled with photos not seen anywhere else. So, if you get lucky and spot it at a bookstore get it. Seriously, it's insanely good. I once bought the reprint at the Virgin Megastore in Hollywood about eight years ago, only to lose it a few weeks later. Luckily I found it on eBay for a few bucks a few years later, and it was the original printing. Now that one is falling apart, and I just found the reprint in my stuff. I am ecstatic, and I'm once again falling in love with Miss Harry's awesome style. Both ladylike and tough, I can't believe she found a lot of her clothes in the trash during her starving years in New York. So, if you can, find this book and get inspired!

We're having a heatwave...
Man it's been hot these past two days, and just when I was getting ready for fall. Of course since i've had the past two days off, i've been stuck indoors away from the sun. And i've been humming MM's "Heatwave," song to keep sane. The only thing really to do on a day like this is eat Otter Pops and sit in front of a fan, and watch Christmas movies. Does anyone else do this? Or is it just me? What are your heatwave habits?
